I Became a Bone Marrow Donor!

I've been toying with the idea of becoming a bone marrow donor for awhile so a couple of weeks ago I decided to do it and found myself a registry drive to go to. Legacy Emmanuel Hospital here in Portland was having a big bash for the 100 year anniversary. I got signed up with the Be The Match registry to be a marrow donor. It was a really easy sign up to do and then after I got fancy red velvet cupcakes that were delicious and a cup of coffee which was a nice extra treat! And then after that I wondered around what was actually a really fun celebration they had going on at the hospital, they had different health literature and talks to participate in as well as games and one of the robotic surgery machines for the kids to play with! It was a lot of fun for everyone and even better I almost ran smack into the Governor who is really as attractive as he looks on TV! After all that I went on out to the Red Cross van and donated some blood! I had a great ol' time and it was a lot of fun to just take a few unexpected hours out and do some good for the world and eat some yummies and watch all the happy kids running around.
